INPAA Baby Safety 2026 Award Winner CO₂ Rebreathing Tested & Safe INPAA Approved Product

Most parents buy waterproof sheets to protect the mattress from leaks & spills.

Safe sleep research has added another reason.

Babies are messy. Spit up milk, leaky nappies - usually at 2am. Right after you’ve finally fallen asleep. A waterproof layer keeps all of that on the surface, so the mattress underneath stays clean, dry and usable.

That part hasn't changed.

The latest evidence has shown something new about the sleep surface itself. Here's what that means.

When babies breathe out, small amounts of carbon dioxide (CO₂) will settle near their face. If the mattress absorbs CO₂, it can build up. A waterproof layer prevents this by creating a barrier, and the exhaled air stays at the surface and disperses naturally into the room air.

The waterproof layer - just got a second job.

What you actually need to know.

At Little Human Linens we are deeply passionate about helping parents make the right safe sleeping choices for their family.

No fluff. No marketing BS.

Just the latest evidence, explained in a way that makes sense.

We promise.

HOW DO THEY WORK?

We reinvented fitted sheets to create an easy to use, 2 in 1 fitted sheet and mattress protector.

They look and feel exactly like a fitted sheet, but have a secret waterproof layer underneath. Regular sheet outside, superhero inside.

4

WHY WATERPROOF?

A waterproof sheet is an essential part of a safe sleep space for your baby.

It's a barrier to liquids, preventing spit up milk and urine from soaking into your mattress.

But more importantly is protective layer to prevent carbon dioxide rebreathing.

CO2 Rebreathing Safe

Reducing the risk of carbon dioxide rebreathing is the newest advancement in the fight to reduce SIDS. Our sheets have been independently tested and approved as an effective barrier to CO2.

GOTS & OekoTex 100 Fabrics

We use GOTS certified organic cotton and dyes. Our waterproof lining is OekoTex 100 certified - the highest standard required for infant textiles.

Sheet sizing is confusing. We made it easy.

  • Luxurious Organic Cotton

We select the best quality organic cotton fabric. It's around double the thread count of other brands. Making our sheets soft to touch and highly absorbent.

  • Quality Waterproof Lining

We skip the unnecessary padding and line the back of our sheets with a discrete waterproof membrane called PUL. Ours is OekoTex 100 Certified (aka safe for babies) and extremely durable.

  • 2 in 1 Design

Our superior design protects your mattress and leaves you with just a single layer to change when the sheet is soiled.

The Experience

What are they actually like?

Regular sheet outside. Superhero inside.

A fitted cotton sheet with a built-in waterproof layer thinner than a human hair. Silent. Soft. Invisible to the touch.

No separate mattress protector. No padding. No crunch.

One layer to change at 2am instead of two.

The Double Sheet Hack

Layer two sheets directly on the mattress. When the top sheet needs changing, pull it off — the cot is already remade.

Back to sleep faster.

Here's the difference.

Kellee Eriksson

Founder & CEO of Little Human Linens

Setting up the nursery as a first-time mum, Kellee realised that every time a sheet was soiled, the mattress protector also needed changing. It meant double the items to purchase, double the washing and double the workload... It didn't make sense..

A problem solver by nature, she started developing and making the prototype of the now market-leading all-in-one waterproof mattress protector and fitted sheet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The questions you haven't asked yet.

How do I find the right size for my bassinet, co-sleeper or cot?

Honestly? Sizing can be the most confusing part of buying a sheet.

Different brands, different measurements, different terms — it's a lot.

So we've made it simple

  • We have the sheet dimensions listed on every product page. Match them to your mattress within 1-2cm, and you're sorted.
  • If numbers aren't your thing, use our Size Tool to find your perfect fit. Tell it the brand and model of your bassinet or cot and it'll do the matching for you.

If our size tool doesn't have your specific bassinet, no stress — it'll send your details straight through to us and a real human will come back with a recommendation.

We're pretty good at getting sizing right. It's kind of our thing.

How many sheets do I need?

We recommend a minimum of two sheets, but three is best.

Two sheets on the bed, one in the wash or one spare.

Pro tip: layer two sheets on the mattress. If there’s an overnight accident, just peel one off and you’re done.

Can I exchange for a different size?

Yes!

We accept exchanges up to 60 days.
You can read our full exchange & refund policy here

Are they safe for babies?

Yes — and this is something we take seriously.

Our sheets are INPAA approved (independently tested to Australian safe sleeping standards) and also tested to meet the new CO2 rebreathing standards.

The PUL layer contains no BPAs, no PVC, no flame retardants.

For safe sleep more broadly, we follow the bedding recommendations provided by Raising Children's Network which includes sleeping babies on a firm mattress, with no extra layers of padding added to the sheet that might interfere with the firmness of the surface.

Raising Children's Network is free resource backed by the Australian Government that provides the independent, up to date, evidence based recommendations for safe sleeping.

You can find information about the Australian Standards for safe mattresses & cots here.

Even if you don't buy our sheets, we recommend checking this wonderful resource out.

Do they feel like plastic?

No — and this is where most waterproof bedding gets it wrong.

Our top layer is thick, soft cotton, so it feels like a proper fitted sheet.

The waterproof layer underneath is ultra-thin and flexible, so there’s no crunching, no stiffness, no plastic feel.

How do I wash them?

Our sheets can be washed with your regular laundry with the following tips in mind.

  • Wash prior to use with similar colours
  • Machine wash at or below 60˚C /140˚F
  • Line dry in shade or tumble dry on low heat/delicate setting
  • Do not iron
  • Do not dry-clean
  • Do not bleach or use stain removal sprays
  • Do not soak
  • Do not pierce fabric

Little Human® Linens sheets are designed to make your life easier. We have worked hard to source the best polyurethane laminate that can that can withstand frequent washing, while remaining waterproof and beautifully soft.

Direct exposure to very high heat, harsh chemicals or sharp objects will damage the polyurethane laminate resulting in de-lamination or hardening of the PUL and shrinkage of the cotton.

We use organic cotton and organic dyes, as a result some fading of dark colours is considered normal.

How long does delivery take?

We usually dispatch within 1–2 business days.

During busy periods, it can take up to 5.

Shipping times depend on your location and delivery method:

  • Australia: ~2–4 business days (1–2 for express)
  • New Zealand: ~2–3 business days

What if I don't like them?

No hard feelings. If they’re not right for you, you can return them — check our returns page for the details.
